SOME BIG NEWS.
9:02 AMI've been a little timid to share this news with my followers until all my family and friends knew about the decision. Now that I've told all my close family and friends, I wanted to share the news that Jimmy and I will be moving in together at the end of this month! It's a big step, and a big decision, but it has been a long time coming. I truly believe that this is what is meant to happen next in my life, and I am extremely blessed and grateful that it is going to turn from a dream into a reality.
Jimmy was lucky enough to be offered a full time position at a company stationed about 45 minutes North of L.A. I'll be substitute teaching, and figuring out what I want to go to grad school for on the side. I've never been a big fan of southern CA, as I dislike traffic immensely and am a cold weather person...but where we'll be living is far enough north that traffic won't be a huge issue. We will also be surrounded by hiking trails, I'll be able to horseback ride, and we're only 15 minutes from the beach. We're also less than an hour away from Santa Barbara and closer to 5 hours from my hometown.
For those of you who don't know, Jimmy and I have been together for over 4 years now. So while some of you might insist that we're 'shacking up,' I choose to think of it as taking a next step together. I've never been one to rush into things lightly, I need to know about all of my options. I am so excited to ride this leap of faith and see where it takes us in our relationship.
I can't wait for lazy Sunday mornings, dinner together, weekend road trips and hiking, reading under cozy blankets in winter...and all those in between moments that at the time don't seem to matter, but are everything when you look back on them.
I guess the scariest thing for me about moving in with a boyfriend is that I'm such an independent person. I went to Italy alone for crying out loud. However, I still plan to travel, go to classes, and do things independently, as I think people should be independent in their relationships. I can't wait to discover the best balance in this next faze of our lives. When I think about the future, I always see Jimmy there. I know we're going to make it work and I know he'll be my husband some day...when I think about the future in those terms, all the butterflies recede and I'm left with a feeling of excitement and bliss for what's to come.
Are any of my followers currently living with boyfriends, fiances, spouses? I'd love to hear your thoughts about living with a significant other for the first time! I truly must be lucky to be so blessed.
xo, Megan
