I got on a plane to Italy. It was the most liberating, exhilarating, passion-inducing, and moving experience. To go someplace new, different, and far away from everyone you know, is both terrifying and brilliant. Getting off a plane in a foreign country was not a new experience for me, however it was the first time that I was completely alone in a country. I’ve always either travelled with someone or had someone I know to pick me up at the airport. This was the first time I got off a plane and thought, ‘now what?’
I met the most amazing people, saw the most breathtaking sites (nothing can compare to walking through the Roman Colosseum), and ate the most amazing food. It is truly a time in my life I will never forget. It was made even better by my parents and Jimmy coming to travel with me after the month I was there. Looking back, I regret not staying longer so that I could have had more time to travel, explore, and learn more about myself and the country.
One year ago today, I got on that plane to Italy, and I miss it more than ever. I can't wait to go back, and create new memories.

Yes, my best friend and I have been to Mexico and Italy together. Lucky. This was on the balcony of Juliet's house in Verona. |
